Spark Power, a trusted partner in power in North America, is looking for a BESS Field Technician to travel to job sites within the El Campo area to help maintain solar, battery storage and electric vehicle infrastructure. The right candidate will be competent and qualified to work on electrical and/or mechanical components of Renewable Energy assets.

What you’ll be doing as a BESS Field Technician :

  • Complete routine safety documentation before every job including tailgate meetings, electrical work permits, etc.
  • Technical troubleshooting & preventative maintenance activities to maximize performance/production
  • Energization/de-energization procedures
  • Follow & implement LOTO plans & procedures
  • Interpret schematics and blueprints
  • Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed
  • Follow OEM specific maintenance requirements in addition to company standards and industry best practices i.e. NETA MTS, CSA Z463, NFPA 70E, etc.
  • Daily digital reporting and documentation of all work performed
  • Work in a team-based environment and independently whereas necessary
  • Participation in on-call services on a rotating schedule
  • Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
  • Willing to work overtime as needed

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Electrical & mechanical aptitude and experience
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70
  • Experience with the following:
    • Fundamental understanding of how PLC's work; experience with IO Testing a plus
    • Fundamental understanding of CAN Communication
    • Network Configuration i.e. IP Address Config, basic CMD Prompt use, basic understanding of Subnet and Gateway
    • Ability to use a Modbus Scanner with Modbus Registry a plus
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Proficiency with computers - Microsoft Office Suite, applying firmware updates, writing reports, mobile application usage in either Apple or Android, accessing devices via ethernet or Modbus
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel throughout the region
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to complete drug testing and background check prior to employment
