Systems Administrator
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Position Overview:
The Infrastructure, Platform and Operations (IPO) encompasses ServiceDesk, Site and Field Support, Infrastructure and Networking management, Information Security, and the suite of collaboration tools (VOIP, Microsoft Office365, and conferencing technologies). The team’s focus will encompass all services and support associated with the end-to-end life-cycle of these collaboration tools and supporting services. The Infrastructure, Platform and Operations team is part of Spark Power’s Information Technology Services (ITS) organization. This team will work closely with other members of the ITS team to develop, promote and expand the use of common technology tools within the Spark organization.
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, Platform and Operations Services, the Systems Administrator is responsible for the ongoing architecture, deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of Spark’s Technology environment, both internal and cloud-based infrastructure with a primary focus on Spark Power’s Operations Center. The Operations Center provides monitoring services to Spark Power’s customers in compliance with contractual and industry standards such as NERC.
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the delivery and timely completion of projects, provide support on operational issues and incidents. This role will work closely to ensure the technology solutions and support in the Operations Center is aligned to Spark Power’s overall technology standards.
The Systems Administrator will assist the Director of Infrastructure, Platform and Operations Services in creating and maintaining the operating policies of the Technology Operations, Site & Field Services and ServiceDesk teams. As required, this role will also participate on the completion of assigned technical tasks and deliverables for other ITS initiatives.
Here's what you will do as the Systems Administrator:
• Overseeing the daily operations of specific server and network stack required for the Operations Center
• Responsible for the administration of Operations Center-specific business applications, systems and systems security tasks including security scanning, patching and systems hardening.
• Responsible for Incident Management of all Operations Center-related tickets
• Responsible for support and maintenance in configuring, creating, and maintaining monitoring tools and reporting
• Responsible for support and maintenance of:
o Cloud Infrastructure
o Security Infrastructure
• Responsible for the Deployment of Operations Center-specific business applications for staff and technicians
• Perform remote troubleshooting of hardware and software issues at Office or project site locations
• Providing Level 3 support for Site & Field Services and ServiceDesk Teams for Operations Center-related issues.
• Responsible for Upgrading and Maintaining physical networking kit at Office or project site Locations
• Document and Maintain Technology Operations Information Documentation
• Conduct Knowledge Transfer/Knowledge Sharing of technical support to ServiceDesk, Site & Field Support and other members of the ITS team as required
• Document technology playbooks and runbooks in support of Production, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity scenarios
• Provide After-Hours support for high priority incidents and issues as defined by Department SLA’s

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure technology fundamentals such as:
o Server Technologies & Management – Linux, MS Server, PowerShell, Bash
o Scripting & IT Automation languages & Processes
o Virtualization Technologies – Microsoft, VMWare
o Storage Technologies – SAN, NAS, Storage Virtualisation
o Network Technologies & Protocols – Routing & Switching, WAN,LAN, WLAN, VPN
o Security Technologies – Firewalls (such as SonicWall, Fortinet), IDP/IDS, SIEM
o Network Monitoring Solutions (SolarWinds, PerfMon, PRTG)
o Operating Systems (Windows OS - Server 2008 to 2019, Linux OS - RedHat, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu)
o Advanced proficiency in networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, Routing, MPLS, VPN)
o Cloud Services (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
o Proficiency in Web Servers, including Apache, IIS
o Identity Management Solutions (Active Directory, Azure AD, ADFS)
o Phone Systems and Conferencing Technologies (SIP, VoIP, PRI)
o SCADA System Architecture (ideally in electrical substations)
o Industrial (preferably electrical) automation protocols (Modbus, DNP, OPC UA, IEC 61850 GOOSE, SEL, MQTT)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Products, including Office 365, SharePoint and Teams
• Experience in NERC/CIP compliance environments
• Understanding of ITIL and concepts (specifically Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management and Release Management)
• Exposure to ERP Systems and/or other enterprise-level solutions (e.g. CRM, ERP)
• Working knowledge of SDLCs (RUP, Waterfall, and Agile) and full life cycle development
• Ability to automate simple and repetitive tasks
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong troubleshooting skillset
• Ability to assimilate, analyze and facilitate information sharing
• Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability
• Ability to manage and implement small projects and enhancements
