Spark Power, a trusted partner in power in North America, is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Calgary office. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of various structures that shape the built environment. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring projects meet and exceed industry standards.


What you’ll be doing as a Structural Engineer:

  • Responsible for the analysis, designing and detailing of structural elements including piles and foundations.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop/deliver cost effective and constructible designs.
  • Participating in equipment/material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
  • Preparing and self-checking engineering calculations, drawings and construction work packages.
  • Should be able to perform Site grading & drainage design
  • Collaborating with others to progress and complete designs of various steel and/or concrete structures for industrial projects.
  • Participates in client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
  • Interdepartmental coordination, review of vendor drawings, structural steel and rebar shop drawings review.

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience with a focus on civil and structural engineering. Must have hands on experience on Canadian design codes to complete designs of steel and/or concrete structures for green and brown field projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PEng.) Designation or EIT with APEGA required.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as structural design software S-Frame & drafting software AutoCAD. Working knowledge on Micro-station will be an asset.
  • Must have industrial Canadian experience. Experience in T&D industry will be asset.
  • Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Canada and the US.
