Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Health and Safety team for a 6-month term contract position. This role will be based in Hamilton and support one of our current projects. This position reports to the National Health and Safety Manager. The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies, conducting risk assessments, providing training to employees, and investigating incidents.

What will you do as a Health and Safety Specialist at Spark Power?

  • Engage with the functional business leaders within the organization as their health and safety resource.
  • Responsible for occupational health, safety, and injury prevention to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Conduct site visits to provide HSE guidance, assess risk, inspect and maintain COR certification.
  • Incident Investigation of all incidents to determine their root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Provide coaching to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • NCSO would be preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related construction or electrical safety work experience.
  • Experienced in incident investigations
  • Knowledge of all applicable Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations and the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the legislation.
  • Experience in Health and Safety Policy writing, or technical writing is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of several software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and additional software solutions.
